   Welcome to Madison County 4-H

Madison County is located in beautiful Central Virginia.  The Blue Ridge Mountains form a backdrop to the rural landscape of our county.

What is 4-H?

4-H is the youth based educational program of Virginia Cooperative Extension.  Over 500 youth in Madison County are involved in our program.  The theme of all 4-H programs is “learn by doing”.  4-H encourages hands-on learning experiences.  The program and people involved are committed to assisting youth in acquiring knowledge, learning new life skills and gaining leadership skills.  4-H programs use experiential learning opportunities to teach the latest research-based subject matter knowledge and to foster skill development in effective citizenship, leadership, and other life skills.

Who can Join 4-H?

Every youth in Madison from age 5– 19 is eligible to participate in the 4-H program.  Membership is FREE!

4-H is a community centered volunteer led program. Adults are also encouraged to volunteer.
